Tonight, 5/10/2011, I walked by the Clarendon Market Common’s Barnes and Noble. On a wrought iron bench outside the store, I spied a black artist notebook. No one was around. I skimmed it for a phone number or address, so I could return it to the individual who had forgotten it. No luck. What to do? This was playing out like an episode of What Would You Do?. The bench faced the B&N. Concerned that the book’s fate might be a trashcan if I just left it, I took it into the B&N. The kind bookseller at information placed it in the lost and found. I scrawled a note on a piece of paper about the book’s whereabouts, then stuck the information back on the bench. Hopefully the artist will be reunited with his book of dreams. And when he does get it back, I hope he pursues his art with all his heart. The octopus he drew inside the book was amazing.
